The Challenge

Seed corn is a serious business. The market is dominated by ‘the big three’ corporations and their extensive and complex sales/distribution systems as well as their massive market share in the industry. A Minnesota-based farmer-turned-seed corn grower and distributor realized there’s a better way for US and international farmers to buy and grow corn, but they needed a solid marketing solution to get their brand and message to farmers, allowing them to generate sales and grow their business.

Our Approach

After meeting with the client a number of times, 44i was entrusted to develop their marketing strategies, plans, and creative. The client uses an aggressive standard pricing model of $97 per bag of seed corn, which includes delivery, giving them a dramatic advantage. The effort began with an e-commerce website to allow farmers to easily purchase their product and have it delivered directly to their location. 44i then developed a very strategic digital marketing campaign to generate brand awareness, drive interest, and spur sales.

Result

44i’s marketing efforts are paying big dividends year over year for our client, expanding their sales across the US as well as generating large international farming operations to find them online and purchase their seed corn. Revenue continues to grow as their product performance creates higher repeat sales and 44i keeps the pedal down on generating new sales through pushing the envelope with online tactics.
